Based in Central Pennsylvania, Cignal is a growing tech startup helping to safeguard human life, combat crime, and protect vital transit, logistics, and trade systems. Cignal has created the Cignal Engine, an advanced rendering and simulation engine used to train artificial intelligence (AI) models for security screening applications.

Unlike other types of engines, the Cignal Engine works outside of the visible spectrum – in X-ray, infrared, and millimeter wave spectra – to create interactive environments that teach AI systems how to see inside objects. It also allows our customers to safely detect threats (like weapons, explosives, narcotics, and contraband) and other illicit items (such as those related to endangered species trafficking), which may be too difficult or hazardous to evaluate in the real world.
